Man Jailed Over Oxford City Centre Stabbing
A man has been jailed for six years for an attack on two men in Oxford city centre.
The pair needed surgery after being stabbed in Gloucester Street in the early hours of the morning in November 2015
A 24-year-old man was caught after hours of CCTV footage was studied from the area.
At around 5.10am on 1 November 2015 Ramsay became involved in an altercation with the victims, two men aged 22 and 30, in Gloucester Street, after he had been refused entry to a nightclub.
He stabbed the 30-year-old man, four times with a double bladed knife, causing him to sustain seven wounds. During the incident the knife blade snapped off in the bone of his forearm and had to be surgically removed.
The second victim, the 22-year-old man, sustained a stab wound to his arm which also required surgery.
Ramsay was issued with a postal requisition in relation to the offences on 12 September 2016.
He was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for both counts of Section 18 - wounding with intent and two years’ imprisonment for possession of an offensive weapon, all of which will run concurrently.
Following sentencing, investigating officer Det Con Justin Walsh, from Oxford Force CID, said: “This case highlights how seriously Thames Valley Police takes knife crime. Every effort is made to ensure those who carry dangerous weapons brought before a court.
“During the incident both victims sustained stab wounds and part of the knife broke off in one of the victim’s arms, requiring significant medical treatment.
“Following a thorough investigation, which involved painstaking work piecing together the circumstances from CCTV and forensics, Ramsay has been sentenced to a significant custodial sentence to reflect upon his actions.”
